Brent Whale is the director of Computer Forensic Solutions Ltd, which specialises in computer and mobile phone forensic investigations. Following a twenty-two year career with the New Zealand Customs Service, Mr. Whale brought his skills and experience into the private sector in January 2007. During his career with the Customs Service Mr. Whale spent the majority of his time within the Investigations section, investigating major importations of controlled drugs, prohibited goods, and investigating financial matters.
In 2000 Mr. Whale was responsible for the creation of the NZ Customs computer forensic facility. This unit is now responsible for supporting multiple government agencies with their computer forensic needs. Whilst heading the NZ Customs forensic facility, Mr. Whale conducted over a thousand forensic investigations.
In 2001 Mr. Whale earned, and continues to maintain his Certified Forensic Computer Examiner (CFCE) title awarded by the International Association of Computer Investigative Specialists (IACIS). The IACIS CFCE is one of the most coveted certifications in the area of digital forensics. Mr. Whale is the Director of Standards for IACIS having been elected to the Board in 2011.
Mr. Whale has been instructing in computer forensics for many years, and has instructed in New Zealand, France, USA, Malaysia, Germany, Australia and Croatia. He is recognised by IACIS as a certified instructor in computer forensics.
Now the owner and operator of Computer Forensic Solutions Ltd, Mr. Whale assists lawyers and private investigators with the analysis of electronic media relating to a variety of issues, as well as assisting government agencies with their IT forensic needs.
