Kevin Sturgeon

Kevin is a fingerprint expert with over 45 years’ experience in all aspects of fingerprint identification work including delivering expert testimony in formal court contexts, both in New Zealand and overseas.

His background includes a long and distinguished career with the New Zealand Police and has attended thousands of crime scenes, ranging from basic thefts and burglaries through to the most serious high profile crimes, many of which have featured in the media. Notable examples include the Greenpeace Rainbow Warrior bombing, in which French participants were identified by fingerprints and the Heidi Paakkonen and Urban Hoglin murders, in which Heidi Paakkonen’s prints were identified on an exhibit found in the bush of the Coromandel Peninsular. Some of his work has also contributed to an upgrade in international fingerprint practises. 

Kevin is also able to construct and conduct fingerprint training courses, from the basic level to international expert standards.

He regularly attends international forensic finger print seminars and studies which keep him abreast of latest changes and standard upgrades in the field of fingerprint examination.
