David Parsons trained and worked in Australia as a Boiler design Engineer for three international boiler manufacturers: Babcock Australia Ltd, John Thompson and International Combustion Australia Ltd (a C.E. licensee). Following this, David founded and managed a boiler and industrial thermodynamic design consulting practice which has operated successfully for over 30 years. The practice provides specialized boiler design and diagnostic services to a broad range of onshore and marine sectors including such industries as wood and paper processing, sugar refining, dairy processing, pharmaceutical, metal processing, mining, power stations, along with marine and off shore Floating Production Storage and Off-loading [FPSO] facilities.

He has been extensively involved in the design and repair of multiple waste heat recovery systems, heat recovery steam generators [HRSG], solar boilers, thermal storage systems, pulverized coal firing systems, wood fired boilers and grate firing systems. His unique specialty areas include boiler circulation analysis, superheater design and grate firing combustion as well as heat recovery systems with both thermal oil and steam.

David’s extensive experience has allowed him to contribute to the training of graduate engineers involved in designing and managing boilers all over the world. He has co-lectured a boiler design training course titled “Boiler Design Principles” along with Dr Roger Wilmshurst from the University of Manchester for many years. This high successful course has been presented to graduate engineers all over the world including the UK, USA, Brazil, Singapore, Malaysia, New Zealand and Australia.

David’s sought after  boiler design knowledge has proven invaluable as an expert witness in several  multi-million dollar cases relating to defective boiler design, catastrophic component failures, boiler explosions, catastrophic fires, circulation defects, feed pump failures, poor biomass combustion and high particulate emissions
